A Brief History of Women’s Gymnastics at West Virginia University
Women’s gymnastics started during the 1973-1974 season, the first season for women’s sport at West Virginia University. Their first opponent was Pitt in January 1974. The team’s first coach was Nanette Schnaible, who coached them to a 5-2 record during its initial season on the mats at the WVU Coliseum, competing against the likes of Fairmont, Frostburg, Pitt and Slippery Rock.
