At Summit High school, Mallory won honors in football, basketball, and track. In addition to his stellar Mountaineer football career, he also lettered in track and ran the 440-yard and mile relays for the Mountaineers. Mallory was inducted into the WVU Hall of Fame in 2001 and into the School of Physical Education Hall of Fame in 2004.
