Niang returned for his senior year after being redshirted the previous season. His senior year, he was heavily counted on for his leadership. According to Coach McGrath he was one of the hardest hitters on the team and it was believed that with consistency it would have emerged as one of the top players for the Mountaineers. Throughout his three-year playing career with the Mountaineers, Niang played 47 games and scored 8 goals, tallying 16 points. His senior year, he was the team's leading scorer.
