

Benny McDay was a transfer student from Virginia Tech and he started to play for WVU in 1975. Benny caught four tosses for 91 yards for junior varsity team 1974-1975 season including a 63 yards touchdown catch from Danny Williams. In 1975, Benny was the split end. In 1976, he was listed number two tight end behind Randy Swinson. He started all 11 games in 1976, and caught 13 passes for 214 yards. Benny earned letters in football, wrestling and track at Greater Johnstown High School, he was also selected all-conference, all-WPIAL and all-state. He majored in social work.
