Mike Austin played defensive back in 1975 as a freshman. In 1976, Mike was the backup flanker behind Tom Bowden. He was an outstanding running back at Stoco High School. Mike also played basketball and ran track. He majored in arts and sciences. WVU Coach Cignetti mentioned that "Mike was tried at wide receiver this spring, but he may return to the secondary if depth is needed."
